APWA's Mid-Atlantic Chapter Awards Program was established to recognize outstanding individuals and groups representing the best achievements in the Public Works profession in our Chapter!
Each year the Mid-Atlantic Chapter recognizes the awardees at our Annual Conference. ALL National Award categories are also eligible for Mid-Atlantic Chapter Awards.
Please keep in mind the deadline for Mid-Atlantic Chapter award submittal is midnight, January 12, 2018. There will be no exceptions. All submittals must be made via email. Submit your awards via email to: APWA@associationbuilders.com. If submittal file is too large to email, a CD or other storage medium may be mailed to: APWA, 11712C Jefferson Avenue, Suite C #254, Newport News, Virginia 23606. Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files are required, and all submittals must be combined into a single file. Submit your awards via email to: APWA@associationbuilders.com.

For Chapter Awards: Please utilize the "2018 Chapter Award Nomination Fillable Form" linked below for Chapter awards only. PLEASE NOTE: this form does not download properly using FIREFOX or EDGE Web Browsers. If you only have access to these browsers, please email email@example.com to obtain a copy of the nomination form.
For Project Awards: Please use the following "Project of the Year Nomination Form" to submit nominations for Chapter Project of the Year. All Project nominations are due January 12, 2018. Submit your awards to APWA@associationbuilders.com.
For National Awards: Please use the online submittal system located here. Once complete, convert the submission form to Adobe Acrobat reader (.pdf) format, combine it with your submittal documents, and submit to the Chapter via email. Please email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember, you will need to amend your submittal if it is selected for Chapter Endorsement.
Please submit National Applications to the Chapter for review and consideration for a Mid-Atlantic Chapter Award and Chapter endorsement for National awards. Self-nominations for Mid-Atlantic Chapter Awards are permitted. Please see the Awards section on the Chapter website for examples of previous award winning submittals. Chapter Specific Award Criteria Information
Judith M. Mueller Local Government Service Award
To give formal recognition of an honorary character to persons who have continuously served a local public agency in an official capacity for a long term of years.
Donald S. Frady Award
Presented annually to recognize individuals who are employed in public works in a position below the supervisory level for outstanding achievement in local government service. Nominee must be a full time employee of Mid-Atlantic Chapter unit of government, be employed below the supervisory level, and endorsed by two or more municipal officials. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Robert S. Hopson Leadership Service Award
Presented annually to recognize a Mid-Atlantic Chapter public works official working at the supervisory level for outstanding service and meritorious achievement in local government service. Nominee must be employed by a public works agency and at the first or second supervisory level (excludes Division Director and above). One nomination per governing unit per year.
Contractor of the Year
To recognize outstanding work done by a contractor for a unit of government in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Consultant of the Year
To recognize outstanding work done by a consultant for a unit of government in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Public Contact Customer Service Award
To recognize any supervisor or non-supervisor of a governmental chapter memeber organization that provides continuously outstanding customer service to the public. Service via telephone, written communications, or personal contacts are all eligible for consideration. Period of outstanding servie should exceed five years, but need not be in the same position. Both non-supervisory and supervisory time can be included in the 5 years. Nominees do not have to be APWA members. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Non-public Contact Customer Service Award
To recognize any supervisor or non-supervisor of a governmental chapter member organization that provides continuously outstanding customer service to personnel within an organization providing public works services. Supply, financial, data processing, vehicle support, and other support functions all qualify for this recognition. Period of outstanding service should exceed five years, but need not be in the same position. Both non-supervisory and supervisory time can count in the 5 years. Nominees do not have to be APWA members. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Public Works Hero Award
Public Works individuals, in the course of their work, engage with the community daily. Many times they serve as first responders assisting the public. This award is to recognize Public Works employees who go above and beyond and through their outstanding achievements make the difference between life, death, and serious injury. Acts that occurred within the last 24 months are eligible for recognition. One nomination per governing unit per year.
Please keep in mind the absolute deadline for Mid-Atlantic Chapter award submittals is January 12th, 2018. Applications must be received by midnight on this day.
