Green Paving Practices in Virginia

Presentation and discussion on new “Green” paving practices being used on Segment II of the I-64 Widening project on the VA Peninsula.  As one of the largest recycling projects in the United States, this project will utilize recycling techniques to reduce the cost and environmental impacts of the construction project; as a result of the research by the Virginia Transportation Research Council in Charlottesville. 

Brian Diefenderfer will be our speaker.  Brian is an Associate Principal Research Scientist at the Virginia Transportation Research Council (the research division of the Virginia Department of Transportation) in Charlottesville where he has worked for the past 14 years. His areas of study include pavement design and evaluation of paving materials.  Brian received his bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and is a licensed professional engineer
